The ACT Labor Government understands that quality early childhood education and care plays a positive role in children’s early learning and development while allowing parents to contribute to the family budget.
The ACT Labor Government is:
- Upgrading Community Childcare Centres - $9 million
- Building an Early Childhood School at Franklin - $42.7 million
- Building an Early Childhood Centre at Holder - $7.5 million
- Immediately releasing five sites to the market for childcare use
- Providing Childcare Centre Grants - $250 thousand
- Supporting Early Childhood Scholarships- $785 thousand
In partnership with the Federal Labor Government, the ACT Labor Government is laying the foundation for a brighter future for all children and families in the ACT.
The Federal Labor Government has invested $17.1 billion over four years in early childhood:
- increasing the Childcare Rebate from 30% to 50% up to $7500 per year
- paying the Childcare Rebate fortnightly to parents and carers
