After 18 years serving Canberrans, the Jetty Cafe on Lake Tuggeranong has had a major upgrade funded through the ACT Government’s Minor New Works capital program.
The Minister for Community Services Joy Burch today opened the new $150,000 kitchen facility at the Cafe.
Ms Burch said the old kitchen was in bad shape and was failing to cater for the increasing number of organisations using the Tuggeranong Community and Function Centre.
“The Jetty Cafe is in a premier location with has spectacular views of Lake Tuggeranong,” Ms Burch said
“The Kitchen has had a complete re-design to maximise space. It has a range of new appliances, a new exhaust system, stainless steel bench tops and shelving to external glazed walls, an upgraded heating and cooling system in the kitchen area and moisture proof flooring.”
The Jetty Cafe is located in one of the largest community facilities in Tuggeranong. Its amenities include meeting rooms, the Lake View Ballroom accommodating 150 people seated, Dance / Studio Space and a Martial Arts Studio.
“Many organisations and individuals hire the Centre for meetings, social activities,
conferences, seminars, sporting activities, dance and seniors events.
“The upgraded will enable quality food and beverages to be prepared and served at the Cafe in an environment reflecting its grand location.”
The Jetty Cafe and Tuggeranong Community and Function Centre are managed by
Communities @ Work, a not-for-profit company delivering community services of social value and practical benefit.
