Applications for 2010-2011 Community Support and Infrastructure Grants Program administered by the Department of Disability Housing and Community Services are now open.

Community organisations can apply for grants of between $10,000-$20,000 to fund projects, equipment or capital works.

The funding supports the priorities and goals of the Canberra Social Plan and specifically assists community sector viability, community inclusion; the provision of information technology and the environmental sustainability of community facilities.

The 2010-2011 Community Support and Infrastructure Grants will provide $300,000 for new projects undertaken by community organisations providing key services to ACT residents including sporting groups.

In the 2009-2010 round monies were granted for building upgrades and renovations, office and sporting equipment, leadership training and strategies for business improvement.

Eligible community groups are encouraged to submit their applications before the closing date of Monday 9 August 2010.

An additional $200,000 will be provided to fit-out the common areas and halls in the new Regional Community Facilities located in Cook, Holt, Western, Chifley, Bonython and Griffith. The fit-outs will include such items as stackable seating, kitchen facilities, audio visual equipment and furniture.
