$1.5 million expansion to southside community facilities

ACT Minister for Community Services Joy Burch today officially opened the newly refurbished Mura Lanyon Youth and Community Centre in Conder.
 
Ms Burch said the ACT Government-funded $1.5 million upgrade would allow the YWCA to continue to provide support, youth services, training and advocacy to the people in Tuggeranong,

Lanyon Homestead’s pilot arts residency bears fruit

ACT Minister for the Arts Joy Burch is encouraging Canberrans to view the outcomes of a recent artist-in-residence pilot project at Lanyon Homestead, which are on show at Canberra Museum and Gallery this week.
 
Ms Burch said the artist, Kerry Shepherdson, drew much inspiration from her residency at Lanyon between December 2011 and February 2012.

Community to see their ideas take root at Lanyon

The Lanyon Heritage Precinct will feature more events, increased community use of the former Nolan Gallery Building and expanded garden-based programs through an injection of $230,000 in the 2012-13 ACT Budget.
 
ACT Arts Minister Joy Burch said the expansion was based on recent community consultation which underlined the important place Lanyon holds among Canberrans.

Community urged to have its say on Lanyon Heritage Precinct

ACT Minister for Arts Joy Burch is seeking public input into greater use of the Lanyon Heritage Precinct for new community based activities.
 
Ms Burch said the historic homestead and stunning grounds were an important part of Canberra’s history, and the ACT Government was keen to hear the community’s views on how it could be better utilised.

$1.5m Lanyon community hub expansion to grow Foodbank

ACT Minister for Community Services Joy Burch today turned the first sod of extensions to the YWCA Mura Lanyon Youth and Community Centre and announced that the expanded area would be used to establish an outlet for the distribution of food from Australia’s biggest distributor of food donations.
